Dollywood is where the wonder and imagination that's inspired by the Great Smoky Mountains come together gloriously. The excitement comes to mind when you think of surrounding your day with all the amazing fun that can be had at the park. Now take that experience and add over 6 million Christmas lights and you will just be flooded with bright dazzling, and twinkling splendor. It is the most wonderful time of the year, and we suggest you make your way to Christmas at Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, to make it even more magical.
This time of the year our number one amusement park gets a complete overhaul.
Over 6 million lights are strung up overhead, lining walls and buildings, and wrapping around dozens of trees. You will start your adventure once you enter the gates and will be instantly greeted by immaculate decorations everywhere.
Giant hanging Christmas bulbs, garlands, wreaths, Christmas trees, and so much more will be displayed there to enjoy. This park certainly lives up to the many awards they have received, like the Golden Ticket Award in 2021 for being the most beautiful park in the world.
The first order of business is to hop on board the authentic coal-fired steam engine. Hear the whistle sound as the train takes off down the five-mile track.
You will be traveling through the park, and then the track will take you behind the scenes where you will have incredible views of the Smoky Mountains. Those wishing for a white Christmas may even get to see a light powdering on the mountain peaks. Of course, the train has been all decked out for Christmas. Along the way, guests can enjoy Christmas carols by Dolly herself playing over the speakers.
Let the smell of freshly made cinnamon bread lead you into Owens Farm.
This section of the park has elegant lights strung along the borders of the buildings accenting the brilliantly designed farm-style structures. The display adds to the excitement and magic that the entire park has undergone.
Perhaps the most enchanting of all the light displays can be found in the Wilderness Pass section.
Hanging lights descend from high above and the fog rolls out of hidden machines, creating an incredible scene. As the mist rolls up, the lights will twinkle and dance to the synchronized ambient music playing. You could almost spend the whole night mesmerized by this light show. It truly is something that has to be experienced in person.
Among so many other things going on at Dollywood, make sure you see the 50-foot dancing Christmas tree.
The lights will go down, and the narrator will be heard from the surrounding speakers reading a story about a bear and his Christmas experience. Soon, the tree will flicker and dance through thousands of LED lights. Scenes will come to life as the bear walks across the tree and celebratory music will bring you to the climactic ending. We won’t ruin the surprise, but let's just say it ends with a "Christmas bang."
There are so many more things we could say about the Smoky Mountain Christmas event at Dollywood. With over 6 million lights you will have plenty to look at, and with it being such a great theme park you will have plenty to do as well. We loved Christmas at Dollywood In Pigeon Forge, and highly recommend you go out and enjoy it too. For more information or to buy tickets online, please visit the official Dollywood website.
