These 13 Places In South Carolina Are Best Prepared For Doomsday
South Carolina has several cities and towns well-prepared for doomsday scenarios, with strong military presence and active prepper communities.
Have you ever thought about what you would do about a doomsday in South Carolina? You may be better off if not... but that's a different topic. Buckle up and get out your pen and paper in case you want to take some notes about the cities and towns in our state that are best prepared for doomsday.
1. Charleston
Charleston is home to the U.S. Coast Guard - Sector Charleston. The Command at this Coast Guard location currently oversees all Coast Guard missions in South Carolina as well as Georgia. Good to know since the USCG is an integral part of the US Military. When doomsday comes, you will be in good hands in Charleston, South Carolina.
2. Charleston (yes, again...stay with me)
The Charleston area is apparently a hotbed in the Palmetto State for preppers. We found a Meetup.com group called "Charleston Wilderness Survival Preppers" for which there are "203 Survivalist Warriors" members.
In addition, there's a closed Facebook group called "Charleston/Summerville Area Preparedness Group." This group is closed so we couldn't get a member count, but it has 81 likes which implies a relatively high number of members.
Regardless, preppers are everywhere. And if doomsday were to strike in South Carolina then Charleston appears to have the largest number of persons/families that will be prepared for survival. Maybe one of them is your neighbor and they'll take you in if doomsday hits SC. It's good to know there's a place to go in Charleston, South Carolina to stay safe.
3. York/Rock HIll
The website Meetup.com has a "Preparedness Meetup" group in Rock Hill/York with 50 members self-labeled "Preppers." Who knows? Maybe all those building materials your neighbor was carting into his garage last year for a "little project" were really to build that fallout shelter under his garage? York/Rock Hill, South Carolina is a good place to be when the end is near!
4. Union County
The ARDA – the Association of Religious Data Archives – tells us that Union County is the most religious of the 46 counties in South Carolina. This also seems a likely place to avoid God's wrath in a natural disaster. In Union County 807.9 out of every 1,000 people are faith-based and adhere to their beliefs. (Compared to the next most religious county in SC: Abbeville County at 650.1 out of 1,000.) If you're around for the end of times, you just might want to be in Union County, South Carolina.
5. Pageland (for the time being)
Within the last week of 2022, the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office seized a stockpile of an estimated 5,000 guns from one man living in Pageland, SC. As a result, law enforcement in Pageland seem pretty stocked up on weapons. As long as the dude had the ammo to go with the weapons cache then we're in good shape in Pageland, South Carolina, right?
6. Charleston
Charleston's ports mean huge ships can access the mainland. And for thousands of years people have been using water to escape all sorts of calamity. Charleston, South Carolina seems like a natural escape during a doomsday event, right?
7 - 13. Columbia, Beaufort, Parris Island, Charleston, Goose Creek, Sumter, Eastover
Let's face it, any city or town with a U.S. Military Base or Training Facility is probably safer than one without. Hats off to our South Carolina military facilities and those who serve our country through these facilities. We're glad you'll be there to back up the Palmetto State if doomsday ever strikes here.
