A Trip To This Marvelous Outdoor Market Is Unlike Any Other In Portland

Portland's Saturday Market is a vibrant outdoor market featuring local artists, artisans, and live performances, making it a unique cultural hub in the city.

There is no other market in Portland like the Saturday Market. Featuring a long list of artists, artisans, and food producers, this market is not only the biggest outdoor market in the city, but also the best. A mainstay in downtown since the 1970s, this thriving market has grown into the institution that it is today in its permanent home on the waterfront.

The market, though coined the Saturday Market, is also open on Sundays.

Featuring art from around the area, it is open every weekend from March through Christmas Eve.

Most weekends it is the bustling epicenter of downtown life throughout the day.

Whether you want to look at paintings, drawings, sculpture, jewelry or photography, there is something for everyone here.

The main section of the market is located in Waterfront Park with most areas underneath a covered pavillion to make the event suitable for rain or shine. The market also takes up neighboring Ankeny Plaza where many imports and other wares are sold.

All vendors are juried into the market, and high standards are maintained for quality and craftsmanship.

There are impromptu musical and other performances rotating throughout the day at the Skidmore fountain, as well as a stage at Waterfront Park for musical acts to perform throughout the day, making for a lively atmosphere.

All items at the market are handcrafted and sold by the vendors, allowing for interaction between artists and customers. In many cases, artists are at work in their booths during the market, allowing for a unique behind-the-scenes perspective into their craft.

There are over 250 spots each weekend for vendors and over 400 regular vendors, allowing for regular rotation of artists and new items at the market weekly.

The market is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 4:30 pm. Admission is always free.
