Most People Have No Idea This Unique Tunnel In Oregon Exists

Tucked away in the stunning Columbia River Gorge, the Mosier Twin Tunnels are one of Oregon's incredible hidden gems. Walk through history as you explore these fascinating tunnels, located on the Historic Columbia River Highway Trail.

The Mosier Twin Tunnels were built in 1922 as part of the old Columbia River Highway. Over the years, the tunnels were damaged by falling rocks and the route was replaced with a safer one. The tunnels were eventually destroyed, but they were restored in 2000 and the original highway was made into a hiking trail. Nowadays, the tunnel is accessible to visitors by foot or bike on the lovely Historic Columbia River Highway Trail.

You can reach the tunnels on the Mosier Twin Tunnels Hike, which begins at the Mark Hatfield West Trailhead and is 8.5 miles long, but can easily be made shorter by turning back at any point. Along the way, you will also come across some lovely viewpoints, picnic tables, and gorgeous nature.

One thing that makes this place so special is that you can get a glimpse of Oregon's past while also enjoying the beautiful scenery.
