10 Unique Fall Festivals In Portland You Won’t Find Anywhere Else
Portland has its share of festivals, and fall is no exception. Second only to summer, this season of plenty is a great time to get out of your shell and try something new. Here are 10 great festivals that are unique and fun happening in and around Portland. Check them out and pick one to attend this year to add a little excitement to your weekend.
1. The Wedge Cheese Festival
This annual event taking place October 1 celebrates artisan cheese direct from the cheesemaker. Located on SE 9th and Belmont the tasty event takes place from 11 am to 5 pm.
2. Portland Greek Festival
Celebrate Greek culture with food, music, dance and more at this event held at NE 32nd Street and Glisan. The free event takes place September 30 through October 2.
3. Portland Juggling Festival
Take in a juggling workshop, or simply watch the magic happen at this festival that features a variety of performances and workshops from September 30 through October 2. Taking place at Reed College, this is the largest festival of its kind in the United States.
4. Gluten-Free Food Allergy Fest
Sample and purchase gluten free foods at the Portland Expo Center during this weekend event taking place October 1 and 2.
5. Handmade Bike and Beer Festival
Celebrate a love for handmade bikes and beer at this unique festival taking place at Hopworks Urban Brewing October 3 and 4.
6. Weird Film Festival
Join festival-goers at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival to screen movies focused on weird tales and literary horror. The festival takes place October 2nd through 4th at the Hollywood Theater.
7. Portland Tattoo Expo
Celebrate all things tattoo at this weekend event that features over 300 tattoo artists from around the country. The expo takes place October 7 through 9 at the Portland Expo center.
8. The Great Onion Festival
Enjoy all things onion at this fun festival. Onion stamping and onion rolling contests make the day fun, and tastings make it delicious. The festival takes place October 8 at Archer Glen Elementary School in Sherwood.
9. Portland Tango Festival
Celebrating its 20th year in 2016, this Portland mainstay celebrates all things tango from October 13 through 17 at Norse Hall.
10. PDX City of Cider Fest
Sample all your favorite ciders at this fun festival while the kids are entertained with crafts and games. If you dare, take part in a high-energy pie-eating contest. The festival takes place October 14 and 15 at the Portland Expo Center.
