7 Ethnic Festivals In Portland That Will Wow You In The Best Way Possible

From dancing, to music, to food, there is something for everyone at these joyous festivals that celebrate culture. Mark your calendars now to save the date for these fun events.
1. New Year in the Park
Celebrating the cultures of Thailand, Burma, Laos, and Cambodia, this festival takes place April 29th at Glenhaven Park. It features food, music and games for the whole family.
2. Cinco De Mayo
Held on the Waterfront from May 5th through 7th, this is a jubilant festival filled with carnival rides, live entertainment and authentic cuisine.
3. Portland Scandinavian Midsummer Festival
Focusing on five Nordic nations - Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden - this festival is a celebration of the summer solstice. Held at Oaks Amusement Park on June 11th, the festival will feature traditional food, dance, and music.
4. Portland Highland Games
Enjoy the unique Scottish experience at this musical festival that features Scottish pipe bands, bag pipers and drummers. Held the third Saturday in July at Mt Hood Community College, this festival has been going strong since 1952.
5. Portland German Film Festival
Experience the best in German-speaking film at this 8-year-old festival that features films from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The festival takes place in September and October at Century 21 and all movies include English subtitles.
6. Portland Greek Festival
For 65 years this festival has celebrated Greek culture in Portland. Music, dance, crafts and food will on be on display at this festival, held September 30th through October 2nd at 3131 NE Glisan.
7. Mochitsuki Portland
While it has already passed for this year, the Mochituski Festival is the largest Japanese cultural festival in the area. Held at the end of January at Portland State University, the festival features taiko drumming, food, performances and more.
