If You Love Cheese, You Won’t Want To Miss This Marvelous Portland Event
Cheese lovers take notice: the biggest artisan cheese festival in the city is set to happen next weekend and you are going to want to be there. Featuring over 75 artisan cheese producers, this is one amazing tasting fest that will enliven your taste buds and let you sample the best of the best of Portland-area producers.
The Wedge, a farmer's market-style festival, will feature cheese and everything that goes along with it.
Beyond just the countless varieties of cheese, beer, wine, cider, and food producers will be on hand with their best pairings.
While the previous Wedge festivals have been outdoors, this year the festival is moving inside.
The Wedge is taking over The Alder Block, home of the Portland Night Market, at 100 SE Alder.
To taste the myriad of cheeses available, you have to purchase a sampling ticket.
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door.
Once you have your tasting ticket, you will be able to sample cheeses and specialty foods from over 60 vendors.
Plus you get a $5 voucher off the cost of any cheese that you choose to purchase.
All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Oregon Cheese Guild.
The collaborative group works to help raise awareness of the area's artisanal cheeses and works to share resources amongst Oregon cheesemakers.
If you are interested in pairing cheeses with all the locally produced wines, beers, and ciders, you are going to need to upgrade to a Wine/Beer/Cider tasting ticket.
Allowing you to taste the offerings of all the beverage participants along with the cheeses, these tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door.
If you don't like crowds, you can also get in on a VIP Early Admission ticket.
Get a jump on the festivities and arrive a full hour before the event is open to the public with this ticket. The price of $50 gets you early admission, along with a cheese and beverage tasting, a $10 cheese voucher, and a bag of cheese goodies.
With so many cheeses to choose from, it will be hard to pick a favorite at this day long festival.
Some of the many producers present will include Willamette Valley Cheese, Ancient Heritage Dairy, Goldin Artisan Goat Cheese, Mt Townsend Creamery, Portland Creamery, and Rogue Creamery.
You are not going to want to miss out on all the cheese and great products to sample at this annual gathering.
Local brands like Jacobsen Salt, Olympia Provisions, Smith Teamaker, and Albina City Nuts, among many others will be serving up their notable offerings.
The Wedge takes place Saturday, October 7 from 11 am to 5 pm.
