We get it: as the temperature outside drops, the temptation to stay indoors increases. The idea of going outside in the frigid air may not necessarily sound pleasant at first thought. But just because the weather is frightful doesn't mean there aren't plenty of delightful winter activities in New York to enjoy! Buffalo Canalside is one of our favorite places in the state. They feature a variety of fun activities throughout the year. Festivals, roller skating, ice skating, yoga, silent discos, Zumba classes...the list is almost endless. One of their most beloved events is bumper cars on ice. Trust us, it's just as much fun as it sounds.
When most people think of outdoor winter activities in New York, their minds tend to go to the usual. Ice skating, skiing, maybe snowboarding for the more adventurous.
But at Buffalo Canalside, you can enjoy something a little more unusual... ice bumper cars!
Canalside's ice rink at the Winter Pavilion is used for ice skating, and occasionally hosts ice hockey games. The rink is open throughout the winter during set hours.
During select hours, ice bumper cars are available for eight-minute increments. You can reserve them at the Winter Pavilion.
No matter your age, these New York bumper cars are an absolute blast. It's all the fun of bumper cars at the fair, but even more slippery on the ice!
You can cruise along lazily or battle with your friends. The controller is in your hands.
No ice skating skill is required, and kids over the age of 6 are allowed to pilot their own ice bumper cars. This is a blast whether you're with family or friends, or by yourself and just want to crash into strangers.
There are so many great winter activities in New York worth checking out. Have you experienced these bumper cars in New York? Share your experiences in the comments!
