This Annual Tour Takes You Inside New Hampshire’s Hidden Gardens
The Portsmouth Pocket Garden Tour offers a unique opportunity to explore beautiful, hidden gardens in Portsmouth's West End.
Most of us have probably shared the experience of peering at a gorgeous house, unbearably curious about what lies behind the fence. Well, your chance to indulge your curiosity is here! Stop into Portsmouth's most gorgeous gardens and admire the beauty tucked away behind the West End's walls this June 22-23.
The Portsmouth Pocket Garden Tour has been held annually since 1990 as a fundraiser for Portsmouth's South Church, and over the years it's come to be an event that locals look forward to for months.
The tour walk is a 1.5 mile loop starting at South Church around Portsmouth's West End.
This year's theme is "Water Views," and many of the gardens have great views of the ocean. You'll also catch tons of gorgeous glimpses along the walk.
It's so much fun to peek into the gardens that are usually hidden behind fences and see just how different every gardener's style is, and how homeowners use their space to the best effect.
The flowers these gardeners can coax out of the earth are just mindblowing. Look at these peonies!
You'll love the cozy nooks and corners you spy in the yards, and your'e sure to leave the tour inspired to work on your own space, whatever it may be.
The Portsmouth Pocket Garden Tour will be held on Friday, June 22, and Saturday, June 23. Tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 the day of the tour. Learn more on South Church's website!
