Linoma Lighthouse In Nebraska Just Might Be The Strangest Tourist Destination Yet

Linoma Lighthouse in Nebraska is a unique, landlocked lighthouse that attracts visitors for its novelty and historical significance.

There are so many wonderful things to see and do across the state of Nebraska, and each one seems to be more interesting than the last one. But sometimes, you stumble across something that is so odd you just have to check into it a little bit further. Such is the case with the oddly landlocked Linoma Lighthouse. As tourist attractions go, it is mostly a novelty, but it still attracts a lot of folks. Come along as we see what all the fuss is about.

Some attractions are honestly worth a visit...

...like this odd pillar at the edge of the water in landlocked Nebraska.

The base of this looming lighthouse was built in 1938 as a gas station, and the tower was added just a year later.

Inside, there are 10 floors, but it was just originally built as a novelty.

However, the lighthouse was used as if it was a real lighthouse for years, with a bright beacon shining out over the water each night.

After WWII ended, the beacon even flashed the morse code for "V" to stand for "victory" in celebration.

After years of disrepair, it was eventually abandoned.

Then it was bought along with the nearby RV park and used by travelers passing through.

Today, though it still stands 110 feet tall.

Once a maritime themed destination, today it stands alone as a sole statue near the water.

Even if you can't go inside or see the water from the top, it makes a pretty picture in photos.

It might be worth a cool photo if you find yourself driving through the area sometime!

You can learn more about this little wonder and the attached RV campground at the Linoma Lighthouse website as well as on the lighthouse Facebook page.
