It just wouldn't be a proper winter in Big Sky Country without the Red Lodge Winter Carnival. Taking place from March 3 through 13, it offers an excellent chance for Montanans to gather for one final winter season celebration. Come see why this is one of the biggest winter parties of the year, and why we think it is the best winter carnival in Montana!
It's easy to see why everyone loves Red Lodge Mountain.
Red Lodge Mountain is Montana skiing, pure and simple -- you won't find overly long lines or pretentious patrons here.
Every year, Montanans gather to celebrate at the Winter Carnival.
Each year, a festival theme is chosen, which is reflected in the live music, cardboard crafts and costumes.
The Cardboard Classic Race is one of the highlights of the day.
Things can get pretty intense, but it's fun (and often hilarious) to watch. So be sure to have your camera on hand to take some epic photos!
When you need to warm up, just head into the Bierstube for a "Shotski" or your beverage of choice.
They also serve classic pub food here, and some folks say it is one of the best restaurants in Montana.
Even if you don't ski, snowboard or race, you'll find plenty to keep you occupied here.
There will be a costume contest at followed by live music on the Bierstube deck. It is one of the most fun things to enjoy with family and friends!
The festival culminates with the Torchlight Parade...
...followed by a good 'ole Montana fireworks display. It's pretty darn magical.
