Detroit Jazz Fest Is The World’s Largest Free Jazz Festival
Nothing beats the experience of enjoying a live performance, and we Detroiters are no stranger to the many delights of concerts and other musical experiences. There’s one unforgettable festival that brings the Motor City to life each Labor Day weekend with an endless array of jazzy tunes - and you’ll certainly want to visit for yourself. Mark your calendars for this year’s celebration.
The 2019 Detroit Jazz Festival will take place from August 30th through September 2nd.
Now in its 40th year, this one-of-a-kind gathering boasts the title of the world’s largest free jazz festival. No matter how many times you’ve attended, you’ll have a blast.
From well-known headliners to up-and-coming artists, the talent at each year’s Jazz Fest brings a vibrant energy to Detroit. It’s impossible to have a bad time here.
This year’s festival will be no exception. Scheduled performers include Pat Metheny, Macy Gray, Stanley Clarke, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Joshua Redman, and more.
Attendees will also enjoy live tunes from local high schools and universities, along with a series of speaker events with noted musicians and jazz scholars.
If the lineup itself weren’t enough, the Detroit Jazz Fest prides itself on offering wide accessibility for all. That’s right: admission to this amazing event is free.
You’ll even find plenty of delicious food and beverage offerings throughout the festival space, which primarily occupies Campus Martius Park and Hart Plaza.
When you’re ready for a late summer celebration that will have your toes tapping in no time, venture to Detroit’s most incredible (and free!) gathering of musical minds.
