A nostalgic look at various historic barns across Michigan, showcasing their unique charm and enduring presence.

There is something about passing by an old barn on a country road that reminds us of our nation's strong tradition in agriculture, working with our hands, and not being afraid of getting dirty to get the job done. Sadly, many of these relics are just that, relics of a bygone era. But we salute those of you who are still holding on to these proud structures and not letting them fade from our memories.

Even in the dull of darkness, this old-time barn looks inviting with that welcome banner on it.

1) Leelanau Bicentennial Barn, south and east sides

Flickr user Jim says these shots were taken back in 1976, during our nation's bicentennial. The barn, located at Bohemian Road (County Road 669) and M-22, east of Glen Arbor, has since had these murals painted over. Jim says he posted these images to ensure they were not forgotten.
