This Creepy Asylum In Michigan Is Still Standing… And Still Disturbing

The Northville Psychiatric Hospital in Detroit, once a top facility, now stands abandoned and is rumored to be haunted.

Editor's Note: The building was demolished in 2019 but you can take a look at the photos and video below to see what once stood at this spot in Detroit.

The Northville Psychiatric Hospital opened in 1952 and was considered one of the finest facilities in the country for treating psychiatric patients. Alas, 50 years later the place shuttered, but left behind a disturbing, and possibly other-worldly presence. The facility now sits derelict and subject to trespassers who are curious to see this haunting place.

Patients were left with nothing to do but chain smoke and watch television all day.

Some were even subjected to attacks by staff members and other patients.

Reports became public that patients were forced to sleep in hallways.

The facility now sits derelict and is visited often by trespassers and vandals.

Now those who dare to venture onto the ruinous grounds say they can hear the eerie sounds of voices and footsteps - perhaps the noises of the tortured souls who spent their lives here.

And now in the age of drones, we can see this haunting places from all angles.

And to think this place is just a short drive for most folks who live in metro Detroit. Creepy, huh?
