But, what they don’t know is this town is home to one of the coolest museums in the state and it’s a true hidden gem. The Herrett Center for Arts and Science is one museum that has a little something of everything. Here, you’ll find thousands of artifacts, a planetarium, and awesome learning opportunities. Plus, admission is always free.
The Herrett Center is an intriguing museum in Twin Falls that many people don’t even know exists. But, once you know it is there, you’ll want to return over and over again.
The young and the young at heart will love exploring and learning at this unique attraction. This museum houses more than 35,000 artifacts and specimens that represent people from all over the world and from all different time periods.
In fact, as you walk around, you can enjoy unique exhibits like a complete mammoth skeleton as well as fossils that are sure to leave you impressed.
But this isn’t all. Check out the collection of paintings, sculptures, and ceramics.
There are approximately seven different galleries that you can wander through and each will not disappoint.
You can also spend lots of time in the Faulkner Planetarium, a domed theater that teaches you all about space and astronomy.
The Faulkner Planetarium is actually the largest planetarium theater in Idaho. Multiple shows occur each Tuesday through Saturday. Be aware that there is an additional fee to visit the planetarium.
Of course, you’ll also want to stop into the Centennial Observatory, which features one of the world’s largest fully wheelchair-accessible public telescopes.
The observatory is a wonderful place for star lovers and even hosts regular events such as monthly star parties, Telescope Tuesday events, and Summer Solar Sessions.
With so much to do and see at this museum in Twin Falls, you’ll walk away impressed and amazed. This is one hidden gem in Idaho that you’ll want to tell everyone about.
