You’ll Never Believe What’s Hiding in This Florida Hotel
With a lazy river, arcade, vintage eats, and tons of surprises, this retro hotel in Florida is the perfect destination for family-friendly fun.
It’s easy to see why we selected Cabana Bay Beach Resort as one of the best hotels in Florida. Between its retro beach vibes, multiple swimming pools, a lazy river, a classic arcade, vintage bars and restaurants, Cabana Bay is not just a place to stay, it’s a whole vibe. I worked in the theming industry, so naturally, my favorite part about this hotel is the themed décor, the striking colors, and the gorgeous architecture. It's nostalgic, it’s fun, and it feels like you’re stepping into a Miami Beach motel from the '50s or '60s. Moreover, Cabana Bay is full of surprises, too, including a 10-lane bowling alley: Galaxy Bowl. A bit of an unexpected find, this hidden amenity is the place for families to create lasting memories at this unique hotel in Orlando.
Welcome to Cabana Bay, an affordable, family-friendly beach resort at Universal Orlando and arguably the best hotel on the property. Here in Florida, we’re no strangers to incredible resort-style hotels, but a stay at this retro paradise will take your vacation to the next level.
The hotel offers visitors a unique experience combining its vintage vibes with modern conveniences. Immediately, hotel guests will be greeted with nostalgic fun in a cheery space with retro tunes playing in the background. This one-of-a-kind resort, with its laid-back beach decor, invites guests to relax and stay a while.
If you’re traveling with kids, you’ll find lots of activities to keep the little ones busy during your stay. Their days can be spent on the lazy river, drifting past palm trees, fountains, and waterfalls, or sliding down the 100-foot-long waterslide at the swimming pools. While the kids are making a splash in the massive resort-style pools, adults can soak up the sun poolside while enjoying a cocktail from one of the retro bars. Even better, reserve a dreamy, poolside cabana that features lots of seating, Wi-Fi, a TV, a mini fridge, and more. Other amenities include outdoor games, a splash pad, hot tubs, and a bonfire for roasting marshmallows.
Beyond the pools, guests can enjoy live music on select nights, multiple themed diners, outdoor movie nights, and classic games inside the massive arcade. An added perk for hotel guests is the easy access to Volcano Bay, the popular Universal water park, from the resort. But what makes Cabana Bay special is Galaxy Bowl, the on-site bowling alley located on the second floor above the lobby.
Decked out with vibrant neon lighting, the retro-themed alley perfectly complements Cabana Bay’s throwback vibes and adds to the hotel's nostalgic charm. It offers guests a lively space to bowl a few frames after a day at the theme parks. Or, it can be a fun family-friendly indoor activity on those rainy days in Florida. If you ask me, this vintage sport is one of the best ways to spend time with your loved ones.
Since there is a full-service restaurant in the alley, you can grab a table next to your lane and order drinks and food from the menu in between strikes. Choose from American favorites like burgers, sandwiches, wings, wraps, BBQ, and more. Adult drinks are served as well, so don’t hesitate to treat yourself. Due to its popularity, the alley does get crowded, so I’d recommend making a reservation if you plan to bowl here. The best part? You don’t need to be a guest at Cabana Bay to play at this hidden bowling alley.
Whether you’re a kid or an adult, it’s guaranteed you’ll have a blast at Galaxy Bowl. This throwback activity is the best surprise at Cabana Bay Beach Resort, and you’re sure to create new lasting memories here.
