The Howey Mansion located in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida is a true gem that has withstood the test of time.
What had been abandoned for years, quickly became a historical highlight for photographers and those looking to brave the rumors of the paranormal.
This 20-room Mediterranean Revival home clocks in around 7,188 square feet and was named after founder William John Howey.
Designed in the 1920s, this home eventually became part of the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in the 1980s, yet up until recently was left abandoned.
William John Howey became known as the greatest citrus developer in Florida, which is why the small town became such a huge hit that Howey dubbed it "The Florida Alps."
What made this historic house a bit unnerving while it was abandoned was the fact that Howey and his wife were both laid to rest on the grounds in a mausoleum, as well as their children William and Lois.
Over the years, the mansion was open to the public for tours, with profits from the tours going to various charities.
Yet, the house was eventually listed for sale, as ownership switched hands and the home price became much more inflated over time.
During the time in which the mansion was abandoned, photographers came to the property to snag some truly grim shots.
