Bundle Up For A Day Of Family-Friendly Fun At This Annual Winter Festival In Connecticut

Many think of winter festivals in Connecticut as centering around the holidays, and it is true: there are quite a few Nutmeg State celebrations at Christmastime. Still, even after the holidays are over with and the new year's rolled around, you can find plenty of enjoyable activities. One winter festival in Torrington, CT that you'll want to mark your calendar for is the Annual Winter Festival Event at Burr Pond State Park. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This is a fantastic family event that's especially perfect for the little ones, and best of all, it's completely free, with no registration required. Burr Pond State Park is one of our favorite summer parks in Connecticut thanks to its amazing swimming opportunities, but we've got to say, it's possibly even more magical in the wintertime.

Winter in Connecticut can be unpredictable, to say the least, and while it's certainly festive to see everything draped in snow, there's no guarantee it will be snowing the day of the event.

It may not have looked much like a snow globe in 2023, but last year's event was still quite fun.

Local police and fire teams showed up with Q&A with the little ones, and even brought along their search and rescue dogs.

There are plenty of educational opportunities on-site, including demonstrations and pelts from local wildlife, plus live animals.

Marshmallow roasting and a bonfire is sure to put you in a winter mood, even if there's no snow on the ground.

Ice sculptures are so cool to see in person. It's amazing what people can craft out of frozen water!

If the lake is frozen over, there will also be ice fishing demonstrations.

Again, this year's event is scheduled for Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Burr Pond State Park. If the weather isn't cooperative, the makeup date will be Sunday, February 4, 2024.
