Railbike routes are popping up all over the United States and now there's one in Erie! This railbike opportunity has been a long time coming but now it's finally ready to roll - no pun intended.
When you arrive at Colorado Railbike Adventures, you'll first check in at The Depot.
Soon, the helpful staff will get you all set up on your very own four seat railbike to head out on the rail trail.
This is a great use for old, abandoned rail that is no longer used for trains.
Before long, you'll be pedaling away! These bikes are powered by your own feet. If you really peddle fast, you can get them up to about 10 mph, but you'll likely end up crusing along at a more relaxing pace.
Currently, Colorado Railbike Adventures has one trail open: the Boulder Valley Mine Route. This 4.2-mile round trip journey will take you on a beautiful adventure through the Colorado countryside.
You'll pedal through fields.
You'll pedal through forest. You'll also pedal across a trestle that crosses Coal Creek.
When you reach the end, they'll turn you around and you'll pedal back to the start. It's a quiet and relaxing journey that you're going to love.
This fall, Colorado Railbike Adventures will open the Longs Peak Route which is nearly twice as long! You can try that one too when the time comes.
