8 Little-Known Trails In Delaware Where It’s Easy To Find Solitude
It might surprise you to learn that Delaware is home to some breathtaking trails where you’ll hardly find a soul. Outside of our popular state parks, there are hundreds of miles of lightly traveled and nearly undiscovered pathways that wind their way through the First State. If you’re looking for a quiet and peaceful hike in Delaware, lace up your hiking boots and get out to see these charming trails.

This scenic streamside boardwalk showcases an historic mill complex, beautiful pond, and the rolling and sprawling fields of the area around Abbott's Mill Nature Center.

Hike for 1.2 miles along a well maintained paved trail that takes you all around one of Delaware's historic farms. This spot is maintained by the Delaware State Park service.

This tucked-away 3.2-mile trail near Milford is so lightly traveled that chances are, you'll have it all to yourself. Hike out to the lake and take in the views!

The Tybout Tract is the most popular of the trails in Blackbird State Forest, but this 1.9-mile loop trail is still one of the most peaceful hikes in Delaware.

This quiet, 3.7-mile out-and-back trail showcases beautiful views of the Delaware Bay. It's easily accessible from pretty much anywhere in the New Castle area.

Travel nearly 5 miles around Redden State Forest to see a historic lodge, towering pines, and beautiful wildflowers.

The beautiful Woodlawn Trail is a 3.8-mile loop trail near Wilmington that's a birder's paradise. The scenic and rolling farmland will make you forget that you're near the city.

The five-mile Snow Goose, Possum Hollow, and Double Horseshoe Trail near Newark showcases some of the finest hiking in the Brandywine Valley. You'll see wildlife, wildflowers, a creek, and more in this beautiful forest setting.
