Delaware’s Most Haunted Trail Is Also One Of The Most Scenic Hikes In The State
When it comes to scenic hikes, Delaware is one of the most underrated spots in the state. Visit one of our charming State Parks to take a hike around a beautiful pond, spot wildlife, and maybe even encounter the ghost of a young girl who met her end in these woods decades ago.
Lums Pond State Park is one of the state's most popular parks, and the Swamp Forest Trail is one relaxing scenic stroll around the water.
Many people take this hike on their way to the GoAple Treetop Zipline Course, and continue to walk the loop after their exhilarating adventure.
For nearly 7 miles, you can explore this beautiful park, but be sure to keep yan eye out for spirits — the Swamp Forest Trail is the most haunted hike in Delaware.
In the 1870s, a young girl ran away from home and encountered a vagrant who was living in these woods. She was attacked, raped, and murdered.
Today, those who travel the Swamp Forest trail alone can hear her wails and cries. Many have dismissed these sounds as the wind — but those who are aware can certainly feel her presence.
This is one of the most popular hikes in the First State, and it's certainly beautiful any time of year. In the fall, the trees light up with color.
Many people relax and enjoy the views of this beautiful pond. The variety of wildlife makes it a favorite place for birdwatchers and nature lovers.
While I would encourage everyone to take this hike at least once in their lives, be sure to keep your wits about you — especially as it nears sunset.
