The former site of the Pamecha Jail in Middletown has been transformed into a restaurant that serves so much more than prisoner’s rations. This culinary gem has award-winning cuisine prepared by an extremely talented chef. Bread and Water is taking the dining scene in Connecticut by storm and you will want to try this spot out as soon as you can.

Bread and Water, an Italian eatery, is located at 51 Warwick Street in Middletown. This casual fine dining restaurant just reopened in early February after suffering damages from a fire.

The building was constructed in 1850 and formerly housed the Pamecha Jail. Now redesigned, the interior has a Victorian theme with high ceilings, chandeliers, and a fireplace.

Large parties can rent a private dining room located right inside an old jail cell which certainly makes for a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

From start to finish, at Bread and Water, you will get a carefully prepared meal that is full of flavor. Cioppino, the fresh seafood appetizer is a delicious way to begin your dinner.

The salads are well crafted and displayed like a work of art on the plate. We suggest the colorful and scrumptious roasted beet salad.

Being a true Italian restaurant, the pastas are all made by hand. Paired with other fresh ingredients, it becomes perfection on a plate.
