Perhaps you’ve heard that the Lost Valley Trail and Cedar Creek Trail are popular family-friendly hiking trails in Arkansas. And indeed they are because they’re moderately easy hikes with incredible rewards. But have you heard of Collins Creek Trail in Heber Springs? This family-friendly trail in Heber Springs, Arkansas leads to a gorgeous waterfall, splashing pools, a playground, and more. And best of all, the kids will love it.
Heber Springs is tucked neatly at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and it's home to one of the most serene hiking trails in Arkansas.
It’s filled with lots of picturesque views like towering trees, flowing creeks, waterfalls, and more. So, be sure to bring your camera with you to capture the beautiful scenery.
The trailhead starts off flat with no significant change in elevation, and it’s surrounded by a canopy of trees that’s perfect for shading during the summer months.
The waterfall is fed from a man-made pipe that was built after the damming of Greers Ferry Lake. So, it’s guaranteed that the falls will flow for most of the year.
Of course, the kids will have fun hopping across the rocks. Be sure that they have water shoes for this adventure.
As you continue to hike, you’ll see a playground as well as a picnic area. So, pack a delicious lunch and spend some time enjoying this part of the trail.
If you’re up for more hiking, the trail continues down to the Little Red River. While the river is great for getting your feet wet, please be aware of the rising waters from the release of the dam.
One thing’s for certain, between the gorgeous cascades, the rocky creek, the picnic area, and the scenic river, you’ll absolutely love this family-friendly trail in the Ozarks.
