You'll hike through some of the most beautiful parts of the Chugach National Forest. The trail follows along the stunning Eagle River.

It's a mostly flat trail that moves over mild, rolling hills. The entire elevation gain over the whole trail is only 643 feet.

It's an easy 4.5 miles long, with many families and children taking this hike in only an hour or so. There are usually moose in the area, so keep an eye out for wildlife while hiking.

Make sure to wear good, sturdy snow boots, or winter hiking boots. It would be a good idea to pack ice cleats in case some areas of the trail are slippery.

Many bring their families, and even their animals out here to take in the scenery. You might even come across a horseback rider or two.

During winter, you'll see the frozen river cascading over debris. If you go a little farther, you'll come upon the famous Barbara Falls, which also freezes over beautifully in the subzero temperatures.

The trail is accessible year-round, and you'll find it well traveled during all types of weather. The proximity to Eagle River and the quiet area draw in many Alaskan locals to enjoy this serene spot.
