Alaska has no shortage of stunning little hikes that you can take on a beautiful afternoon.
The Reflection Lake Trail is a beautiful little stroll conveniently located off the Glenn Highway. It’s right next to the Knik River, and part of the path sneaks between the lake and the river.
Some of the muddy or boggy areas of the trail have been thoughtfully laid with boardwalk.
In fact, most of this 1.1 mile trail loop is wide and groomed. It makes it easy hiking for many people, even those with mobility issues.
The whole trail isn’t boardwalk however, and the path meanders beneath some stunning tree canopies.
Watch out for wildlife! You’ll most likely see a moose or two, possibly even sharing your path.
There’s even a lovely bridge that crosses over a portion of the lake.
The trail seems designed for a visually appealing hike! Everywhere you look are stunning vistas, beautiful reflections, and beautiful plants and flowers.
Take a moment or two on one of the benches to slow down and rest.
This is the hike you need if you want to get outside but not overexert yourself. There’s plenty of places to stop and relax, and take in the fantastic sights around you.
The trail even has a tiny branch off of it that leads you to this tower.
Climb the structure for stunning views of the surrounding area! It’s an easy climb with railings, so the whole family can get to the top.
Make sure to add this hike to your weekend to-do list.
You can find the trailhead at this Address: Glenn Highway, Palmer, AK, 99645. It’s open year-round for good hiking, and many people even ice fish here in the winter!
