The Legend Of Alabama’s Screaming Bridge Will Make Your Hair Stand On End

Several haunted bridges are located throughout Alabama. One in particular is Cry Baby Bridge. There’s a variety of stories behind this haunted bridge, and we’ve included one of them below. Many years ago when a war was going on, a young mother fled on foot from Oak Grove Plantation in Saraland, Alabama. She was carrying her baby as she ran to escape the soldiers chasing her. The baby wouldn't stop crying, so the mother had to think of something quickly to get it to stop.

After leaving the plantation, which is situated at the intersection of Oak Grove Road and Kali Oka Road, she ran towards the town's famous...

...Cry Baby Bridge.

Spanning a creek, this bridge ended up being a great hiding spot for the mother and her baby. Well, underneath it that is.

The mother hid underneath this bridge, and when her baby wouldn't stop crying, she put its face down into the water. Sadly, the baby drowned.

Today, it's not uncommon to hear cries from this bridge. Whether you visit during the day or night, chances are you'll hear cries. These cries are believed to be from the baby that drowned there. This is how the bridge earned its nickname "Cry Baby Bridge."
