The Bright Star is a family owned and operated restaurant in Bessemer, Alabama that attracts customers from all across the Southeast and beyond.

It was founded in 1907 by Tom Bonduris. However, two years after emigrating from Greece, brothers Bill and Pete Koikos purchased ownership interest in it.

Upon entering The Bright Star, you'll be reminded of the early 1900s because of its beautiful decor, which includes colorful murals, light fixtures, and classic penny tile floors. All of these features are truly reflective of the era.

When it comes to food, The Bright Star's menu doesn't disappoint! It offers everything from Greek-inspired steak and seafood, to a variety of homestyle favorites, including fried catfish, fresh veggies, and so much more.

Among its most popular dishes is its Broiled Seafood Platter, which was included on the Alabama Tourism Department's list of "100 Dishes to Eat in Alabama Before You Die."

The Bright Star is also well known for its signature seafood gumbo. In fact, new customers receive a cup of this delicious gumbo for free.
