Where is Berne, Indiana?

Berne, Indiana is a cute little town located in both Monroe and Wabash Townships in Adams County, which you’ll find in central northeastern Indiana. It’s definitely one of our all-time favorite small towns in Indiana; it’s filled top-to-bottom with some of the best things to do in IN, like shopping, eateries, galleries, and more. It’s a town that loves to celebrate its Swiss heritage, and one of our favorite fun facts about it is that it’s known as the “Furniture Capital” of Indiana!

What is there to do in Berne Indiana?

Berne might be one of the cutest small towns in IN, but part of the reason for this is that there are so many things to do all packed into this tiny place. For example, there’s a wonderful water park here that tends to attract Hoosiers from all over the state – and the Midwest – during the warmer months. It’s the Pine Lake Waterpark, and it’s all centered around a sparkling, clear lake in Indiana that you’re sure to fall in love with. It’s also one of those lesser-known hidden gems in Indiana that only a few people know about, so be sure to check it out before the word gets out! History lovers will enjoy a visit to the Muensterberg Plaza and Clock Tower, a fascinating slice of architectural history, and we also recommend checking out the Berne Public Library while you’re here.

What are some small towns in Indiana to add to my bucket list?

There are hundreds of small towns in Indiana that we can’t even try to list here right now (it would take pages, we promise), but there are some small towns in IN that are definitely worth adding to the ol’ bucket list. Some of our favorite small towns in Indiana include places like Culver, which is right on Lake Maxinkuckee, Metamora, which is a historic town in Indiana that history buffs will adore, Shipshewana, which is one of the best Amish communities in the Midwest, Nashville, which is home to Brown County State Park, and so many more. These are great places to start – but they’re nowhere near the end of the list!
