This Easy Wildflower Hike In Montana Will Transport You Into A Sea Of Color

Sypes Canyon in Montana offers a scenic hike known for its beautiful wildflowers and breathtaking views.

While most of Montana's most beautiful trails are still covered in snow, it won't be long (we promise) before the ground is green and the wildflowers are in bloom. And while you'll see colorful flora on many of the Treasure State's finest trails, there are a few hikes that are known mainly for their wildflowers. Sypes Canyon is one of them.

You'll find Sypes Canyon north of Bozeman near the southern end of the Bridger Range.

It's about 6 miles long, and although it has a few challenging spots, it's a good hike for all skill levels.

The trail heads east through a grassy, fenced access and then enters a lush forest canopy into Sypes Canyon.

You'll end up on an overlook with amazing views of the Gallatin Valley, Bozeman, and the Madison, Gallatin, and Tobacco Root Mountains.

But quite frankly, the wildflowers are what makes this trail so special.

From June until September, they'll enhance your entire journey.

You'll see quiet a variety of flowers on this trail, including the rare calypso orchids, otherwise known as fairy slippers.

Striped coralroot and beautiful asters are also common.

Breathtaking views, great exercise, and colorful wildflowers. Does it get any better?

Perhaps it does, if you time your hike right and catch the sunset.

This hike is fun in any season, but to experience the beauty of the wildflowers, you'll have to wait a few more months. In the meantime, try one of Montana's best spring hikes.
