Whether it’s the natural beauty, peaceful solitude or recreational opportunities, there’s something very appealing about quaint little mountain towns. Typically, small towns exude an aura of warmth with a personal and homey atmosphere. Wyoming has its share of mountain towns that give off such a cozy feeling that they will make you want to move there.

Buffalo is a historic mountain town nestled in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains. This town is filled with Old West ambiance with the likes of the Occidental Hotel and beautiful mountain vistas. Nearby you can enjoy activities such as skiing, hiking, camping, boating and fishing.

Ten Sleep is another little town nestled in the base of the Big Horn Mountains. This relaxed little mountain town revolves around a cattle and sheep ranching community. Popular mountain activities here include fishing, hiking, camping and observing wildlife.

Basin is located in the northwestern part of the state at the foot of the Bighorn Basin with the Big Horn River flowing to the east of the town. If you enjoy a quiet and simpler way of life, this cozy mountain town is the perfect place to put down roots.

Sundance is nestled in the northeastern corner of the state and is embraced by the Black Hills of Wyoming. The town was named after the sun dances performed by the Native Americans on the mountain south of the town. Lander is located in central Wyoming along the Popo Agie River and near Sinks Canyon. This remote mountain town is known for its recreational opportunities, relaxation and natural beauty. Lander is a haven for outdoor adventures such as rock climbing, backpacking, hiking and fishing.

Cody is located in the northwestern part of the state. It's nestled along the western edge of the Bighorn Basin surrounded by the Big Horn, Owl Creek, Bridger and Absaroka ranges. Scenic byways show off the beauty of the landscape. It doesn't get any cozier than the beautiful town of Cody.

Dubois is located in the northwestern part of the state, nestled along the upper Wind River and surrounded by the Wind River and Absaroka mountains. It's a haven for wildlife and known as being home to the best big game hunting in the western U.S.
