This Small Town In Wyoming Is Peak Rocky Mountain Vibes
Dubois offers a rustic, old-fashioned Rocky Mountain getaway with rich Indigenous and Cowboy history.
Over the years, we've all heard the complaining about how the Jackson Hole valley has lost its western charm. There's been too much development, too many tourists moving in, and the spirit of the town has changed. While we don't necessarily agree, and we think that Jackson is still one of the best places on Earth, some people may want to plan a more rustic, old-fashioned, Rocky Mountain getaway and try a different town. If that sounds dreamy to you, mark your calendar for a getaway to Dubois.
Driving into Dubois will make you feel like you've really found the West. This town is located at the foothills of the Wind River Range and is truly a gateway to a great Rocky Mountain getaway.
Just about every business in town is here to remind you of the area's history, whether that be the Indigenous history of those who lived here for centuries, or the more recent Cowboy history.
If you love venturing outdoors, you'll find everything you need in town. Wind River Gear will make sure you're all set for your fishing trip, hike, or camp out.
Even though the town is small, it's sure to keep you well fed! The Taylor Creek Deli is the place to grab a lunch on the go...
... and the famous Cowboy Cafe serves up homestyle meals you're sure to love.
In fact, you just can't visit Dubois without trying a slice of one of the Cowboy Cafe's famous homemade pies!
Dubois is a great base camp for all sorts of outdoor adventures.
We highly recommend a visit to the National Bighorn Sheep Center! It's easiest to spot these sheep in the winter.
There are also dozens of trails and hundreds of acres of forest and mountain to explore, no matter how you choose to do it.
Dubois is one of those towns that will capture your heart as you explore, and you'll want to come back again and again.
