One of the perks of life in Wyoming is just how remote and absolutely stunning our open land can be. While people on the East Coast and in more crowded states have to travel hours to find dark skies, here in the Cowboy State, we rarely have to travel far to find the best places to stargaze in Wyoming. Check out a few of our favorites!
Devils Tower is one of the best places in the entire country for stargazers — particularly if you're on the lookout for UFOs. There's a reason that this national monument was chosen as the location for Close Encounters of the Third Kind... there's something otherworldly about the monolith.
The South Pass area is unique because it contains the remnants of the migrant trails that made their way through Wyoming. When you look up at the stars, you can just imagine what it was like to cross this land as a pioneer.
It goes without saying that watching the stars rise above the Teton Range is a life-changing experience. If you're out on a clear night, you may be able to catch a reflection of the sky in the alpine lakes below which is what makes this one of the best places for night sky viewing in Wyoming.
Nighttime in Yellowstone is unique. If you find yourself out in the dark, you'll catch views of the park's geysers and thermal features lit up just by the light of the moon.
