Housed In A 170-Year-Old Stable In Wisconsin, Quivey’s Grove Is A Must-Visit

Quivey’s Grove in Wisconsin offers a unique dining experience in historic buildings dating back to 1855.

Out in the Madison suburbs you'll find the coolest historical property. Nearly as old as the state itself, Quivey's Grove is a restaurant set-up that makes use of the buildings erected by John Mann in 1855. A successful stable owner, he built a manor home and large stable complex that still stands today. The stones come from local quarries, and the lumber is from right on their lot. This gorgeous locale was privately owned until 1979, and today the whole property is available to visit and enjoy. Quivey's Grove offers a variety of events as well as meals and drinks in all the buildings. Visiting this stable restaurant in Wisconsin is like stepping back in time.

On this property you'll find the stables, stone manor house and an underground tunnel.

The house itself has large 13-foot ceilings and 18-inch thick walls. Dining here feels like you've been invited by close friends to share a meal. In warm weather, sit out on the patio and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

And while the historic manor home is cool, it's what these folks have done to convert the stables that make this a place you just have to visit.

Folks elsewhere spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to create the sort of rustic chic look that's inherent in this building. The gorgeous old wood beams and uneven stone walls are fascinating and hold 160+ years of secrets.

Start with a meal in the Stone House and then take the underground tunnel over to the Stable Grill for a drink.

Everything here feels a little bit magical and just packed full of history. It's so easy to imagine you're in a completely different time and place while you're here.

This place manages to be rustic and welcoming, industrial and charming. You'll love all the historic art and wall-hangings as well as the artisan made reproductions of era-appropriate wood pieces. There's no detail overlooked here. It's the perfect rustic Wisconsin farm meal experience.

Of course, the food is top notch. These folks love to celebrate the area's roots by preparing foods that honor the places the immigrants that settled here came from. They've also got an amazing fish fry. There's something for everyone on the menu here and it all feels like the best comfort meal you've ever had.
