Housed In A Re-Purposed Gas Station, Lewis Station Winery Is One Of Wisconsin’s Most Unique Urban Wineries
Looks can be deceiving. For instance, at first glance, Lewis Station Winery appears to be a gas station – and that’s no coincidence. It was at one time a gas station. And though it still bears some signs of its former life, it’s now a full-fledged winery – complete with tasting flights and bistro-style food.
Lewis Station Winery is a premium urban winery in the heart of downtown Lake Mills.
It is Wisconsin’s first certified craft winery, but that’s only half of what makes it unique. The other half is its location in a re-purposed gas station from the 1940s.
Prior to the winery’s opening in 2011, the building underwent an extensive renovation. Despite the update, the building has retained the look and feel of an old-school gas station.
Sure to satisfy even the toughest of critics, Lewis Station Winery specializes in small-batch, hand-crafted wines, which are made using a low sulfite, natural approach.
