There’s a pretty good chance that if you know much about West Virginia, then you’ve heard of Oglebay, a resort in Wheeling, West Virginia, with beautiful gardens, a fun zoo, and some beautiful accommodations. But here’s something you may not know that makes this place even more magical: at the end of one of the trails that meanders through the resort complex is a small but stunning two-tiered waterfall.

Trails criss-cross Oglebay Resort, some paved, some graveled, and all beautiful. But one that is especially worth your time is the short and sweet Falls Vista Trail.

This out and back trail starts at the Schrader Center, winds through the forest past Camp Russell, and then ends at a small platform overlooking Oglebay Falls.

Along the hike, you'll enjoy a forest filled with wildlife and a burbling stream full of small cascades.

The Falls Vista Trail is worth a visit at any time of year, although in the drier months, you may find the falls running at just a trickle.
