This Tiny Drive In May Just Be The Best Kept Secret In Washington
XXX Rootbeer Drive-In in Issaquah is a nostalgic, historic eatery known for its delicious burgers, root beer floats, and vintage memorabilia.
There's something comforting about pulling into an old-fashioned drive-in restaurant. And while you won't find many of them remaining in Washington, if you're feeling nostalgic, all you have to do is drive to Issaquah. That's where you'll find XXX Rootbeer Drive-In, and this old-school eatery is definitely worth visiting.
XXX Rootbeer, or Triple X, as it's commonly called, is located at 98 NE Gilman Blvd. in Issaquah.
This hidden gem has been around since 1930. It became a chain, but other than one remaining XXX in Indiana, this is the only one left. Issaquah's is the only one that still sports the traditional barrel.
This isn't the place to come for healthy food, but at least you're given a warning.
But rest assured, what the food lacks in heart health, it makes up for in taste.
The burgers are so good, you'll need a bite or two before you can even snap a photo.
The signature root beer floats, which come in a frosted glass and use the same recipe from the 1930s, are still a top seller...
...and the milkshakes are exceptional.
If you step inside, you'll be overwhelmed by vintage memorabilia.
Of course, you're more than welcome to dine outdoors on a pleasant day.
The dive-in hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including classic car shows and live music.
The XXX Rootbeer Drive-In is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
If you'll be hiking in the area this summer, make sure you stop and enjoy a meal here.
