The last time you were driving through our great state and hunger struck, did you take a chance on a new restaurant or settle for your go-to fast food spot or convenience store snacks? It’s hard to know if a roadside restaurant is worth trying based on looks alone. But if you pass one of the places on this list, you won’t regret stopping for a meal.
1. Fat Smitty's, 282624 US Hwy 101, Port Townsend
Located on the Olympic Highway, Fat Smitty's has a building you won't be able to miss. The interior is equally as quirky, with dollar bills plastered on the walls and ceilings. The burgers are both enormous and delicious, and the shakes are incredible.
2. Country Cousin, 1054 Harrison Ave., Centralia
Since 1973, Country Cousin has been serving delightful comfort food to Centralia locals and travelers driving down I-5. From the hearty breakfasts to the old-fashioned dinners, the portions are nice and hearty.
3. Pickles Deli, 11042 State Rte 525, Clinton
Don't be fooled by the simple exterior of this Whidbey Island gem. The sandwiches are delightful.
