These 5 Washington Drive-In Restaurants Are Fun For An Old Fashioned Night Out
Highlighting nostalgic drive-in restaurants in Washington that serve satisfying fast-casual food.
Whether you're 25 or 75, drive-in restaurants always seem to serve up a hearty dose of nostalgia. Luckily, we've still got a handful here in Washington, and their fast-casual food is always satisfying. These are a few of our favorites.
1. Ron's Drive-Inn, 12502 E Sprague Ave., Spokane Valley
This little burger joint was one of Spokane's first drive-ins, and since its 1958 opening, it's been a beloved spot for locals (especially teenagers). They're open daily from 10:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and the burgers and fries are fantastic.
2. Dick's Drive-In, multiple locations
Whether you've spotted this infamous Seattle spot in music videos (Macklemore and Sir Mix a Lot) or you've eaten dozens of Deluxe burgers yourself, you've probably heard of this beloved Seattle area icon. The original Wallingford location opened on January 29, 1954, and they've been serving fresh, never-frozen burgers, fries, and hand-dipped shakes ever since.
3. Frisko Freeze, 1201 Division Ave., Tacoma
This classic burger joint has been around since 1950. The bright red and white sign is a nostalgic sight for Tacoma locals, and it even has a spot in the Tacoma Register of Historic Places.
4. XXX Rootbeer Drive-In, 98 NE Gilman Blvd., Issaquah
Known for their enormous shakes, root beer floats, and creative burgers, Triple X is a favorite stop for families and hikers in the Issaquah area. This is a cash and (local) check only establishment, so come prepared.
5. Frugals, 1520 E. Front St., Port Angeles
Frugals turns 30 this year, but it seems like it's always been a roadside stop in Port Angeles. These burgers and shakes have both won awards, and the sandwich of the month never disappoints.
There are plenty of old-fashioned eateries serving tasty burgers in Washington. Have you checked out Miner's in Yakima?
