Exploring Virginia is a topic that never tires. While there are plenty of ways to see our state by land, whether it be a breathtaking hike or scenic road trip, a riverboat cruise may just be the most unique option. Fortunately, Virginia offers several riverboat tours, one of which explores the incomparable Rappahannock River. Leaving from Tappahannock, the riverboat sets sail for a local winery and promises plenty of site seeing along the way.

Behold the Capt. Thomas, your scenic riverboat cruise for an unforgettable tour of the Rappahannock.

The boat cruise departs from Tappahannock at precisely 10:00 A.M every Wednesday through Saturday.

The 150-passenger boat features a guided tour of the Northern Neck's natural beauty.

Along the way, visitors will want to keep their eyes out for Bald Eagles and other majestic birds native to this stretch of the Rappahannock.

One of the most noteworthy natural features of the cruise are the Fones Cliffs.

Towering at 100 feet, these unique cliffs provide habitat to the largest concentration of Bald Eagles along the East Coast.

Just before noon, the boat will dock at Leestown, where visitors will stretch their legs and take a quick bus ride to the breathtaking Ingleside Plantation Winery.

In the gorgeous shaded patio, guests can enjoy a picnic lunch and Ingleside will provide wine tastings and tours of the property.

Guests of the Capt. Thomas will also enjoy discounted prices on bottles of wine and other souvenirs from the winery.

By 2:30, guests will board the Captain Thomas and head back towards Tappahannock.

Sipping on a glass of wine, you'll thoroughly enjoy the two hour cruise back. The boat will arrive at approximately 4:00, offering plenty of time to enjoy a delicious dinner in Tappahannock's historic district.
