One of the most exciting parts about summer in Virginia is the lineup of festivals to look forward to. Whether it’s a celebration of food, music, culture, or something else altogether, festivals are the perfect excuse to round up friends and family and enjoy the event. This season, you’ll want to mark your calendar for June 15-16, 2018 as the date of Farmville’s annual Firefly Festival at High Bridge State Park. This event promises enchantment and quality outdoor time and is simply not to be missed.
Take a look:
High Bridge Trail is an impressive footbridge near Farmville that towers over the Appomattox River at 125 feet.
Anyone interested in the event can park at the River Road parking area in Cumberland County no later than 8:30 to ensure plenty of time to walk the mile to the bridge.
The spectacle created from thousands of tiny glowing lights is mesmerizing. With a crescent moon in the sky, there will be incredible visibility and little interference from nearby lights.
The event is completely free, although the parking fee of $10 per vehicle will still apply.
