There’s Only One Remaining Soda Shoppe In All Of Virginia And You’ll Want To Visit
A trip to Abingdon, Virginia promises plenty of history, charm, and the lesser-known experience of old fashioned soda. Soda shoppes were once a sign of the times when during the 1920s, popular taverns closed due to Prohibition. In response, pharmacies opened with soda fountains to create a new social gathering place. It turns out there’s only one such converted pharmacy left in Virginia where you can still enjoy this retro treat.
See what’s in store:

But that's not all! The small business has a unique history which sets it apart from Virginia's traditional diner scene.

Step inside and you'll feel as though you've traveled back in time to the days of soda shoppe gossip, ice cream sodas, and friendly neighborhood pharmacies.

The shoppe has been in business since 1959 and the owners, Harold and Yvonne Ellis are passionate about collecting pharmacy memorabilia. These trinkets are used to decorate the store and offer an authentic soda shoppe feel.
