Utahns love Mexican food, and we’re lucky that we have tons of great cuisine from south of the border. There’s no shortage of spots with Americanized Mexican food, but there’s one tiny restaurant in Salt Lake City that has the most traditional tacos you’ll find. Check out Chunga’s:
Chunga's is a family-owned restaurant in Salt Lake City that's long been a favorite for those who appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine.
You'll find this little gem at 180 S. 900 W., Salt Lake City, UT 84104, and there's a second location at 1895 S. Redwood Rd., Salt Lake City, UT 84104.
This little restaurant is truly tiny. Get here early if you want a seat during the lunch rush.
During the summer months, you'll love to dine on the little patio in the back. It's a surprising little oasis, and the perfect spot for on a warm, sunny afternoon.
This place might be small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in flavor. Everything on the menu at Chunga's is absolutely delicious. You can't go wrong with the enchiladas, burritos, or quesadillas here.
The homemade tortilla chips and salsas are the perfect accompaniment to your meal. You'll want to try all the condiments: chipotle red, spicy ranch, roasted red salsa, and green salsa. The guacamole is also tasty.
The real specialty of the house is the tacos al pastor. Authentic al pastor is made with fresh pineapple and perfectly-seasoned pork, and that's how they serve it up here.
Visit Chunga’s website to see the full menu, and follow the restaurant’s Facebook page to see all the latest specials. Be sure to tell our readers about your experiences at this tasty taco joint!
