Drive out just 10 miles from Jackson to Antelope Flats, an area that sits between the Wyoming towns of Kelly and Moose.

Antelope Flats Road surrounds this 640-acre protected preserve.

The National Park Service purchased the land from the state of Wyoming in December 2016 in order to protect critical wildlife habitat and migration routes. Plus, it prevents private development within the preserve boundary. The acquisition was made possible by fundraising efforts from the

Grand Teton National Park Foundation, the National Park Foundation, and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.

Within the land lies the primary migration route for the largest elk herd and others.
