With so many wonderful rivers all across the state landscape, Wisconsin is a great place for a float trip. You rent an inner tube for yourself (and maybe you also get one for your cooler), tie yourself to your friends and create a large flotilla heading downstream. There are a few options for tubing in Wisconsin, but only one that will let you head out for 5 to 6 hours of pure floating bliss. Get ready for the Wisconsin tubing experience of a lifetime.
Let's start off by saying that this trip isn't for novices - not because of difficulty, but because it's a long day and Bob and Joni's, while awesome, takes a pretty hands-off approach to floating.
Bob and Joni's is first and foremost a restaurant. If you're planning to float, call ahead and let them know. Then you'll get to the restaurant and they'll lead you to the river. They'll pick you up at a not particularly obvious location at the end of your day. You'll enter the river right behind their location and off you go. It's all very easy and intuitive if you've floated before. But if you feel like you'd need your hand-held, this might not be the place for you.
But don't let that scare you off. There are tubes, there's a river, there's a pick-up - it's not difficult and this is supposed to be relaxing and fun. Bob and Joni's is in the spirit of that laid back sort of attitude.
While many float trips in Wisconsin last just 2-3 hours, this one should take about six hours. So while you'll probably have a cooler of libations, make sure you've also got plenty of water and sunscreen.
The river itself is nice and wide, though you may find some beaches and sandbars you want to stop at.
For the most part, it's a leisurely ride, but Mother Nature can wreak havoc on the riverbanks, so much sure you're paying attention for fallen branches or trees.
There are also two smaller rapids that add a little excitement to the ride.
The cost of tube rental and pick up for this longer trip is $28 per person. If you're planning the longer trip, you must leave Bob and Joni's no later than 11 am. You can start as early as 8 am.
Tubing is very popular and a great option because it doesn't take much work and the tubes don't displace as much water, meaning they have a clean ride even in shallow water.
Bob and Joni's has been sending people floating down the Wolf River for years. You won't regret using them and planning an all-day trip that lets you soak up the sun, relax and have a great time with friends and family.
