No summer in Wisconsin is complete without a vacation in the Northwoods. But what should you do for the best weekend ever? Here's how to make it epic.
1. Head to a Supper Club
Be sure to pick a supper club by a lake (like Maiden Lake Supper Club), Old Fashioned in hand, and just take in the sunset.
2. Walk Through a Forest
The Northwoods are known for amazing trees in both pine and hardwood forests. There are literally millions of acres, so make sure you get out on a trail and just breath in the fresh pine air.
3. Go Boating
Whether you are zipping across the lake in a speed boat or just hanging out in a pontoon, boating should definitely be a part of your weekend.
4. Marvel at a Waterski Show
Entertainment on the water has always been a big part of the Northwoods summer experience. Seeing people do amazing tricks on waterskis is tons of fun. We recommend checking out Min-Aqua Bats.
5. Go River Tubing
The rivers up in the Northwoods provide some great waters for river tubing. Hop in a tube, enjoy a beverage, and just float your afternoon away.
6. Say "Awwww" at the Wildwood Wildlife Park
Trust us, there will be plenty of wildlife to see in the Northwoods. But it's still worth taking a special trip to Wildwood. There are over 1,000 animals to see, and it's interactive for the kiddos.
7. Get Out on the Namekagon River
This river might just be the best river in Wisconsin; or, at least, it might be one of the most scenic. It is a tributary of the St. Croix River. It is a favorite for kayaking and canoeing.
8. Enjoy Morgan Falls
Morgan Falls drops 70 feet. While you're there, make sure to check out St. Peter's Dome, which has a spectacular view of Chequamegon Bay of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands.
9. Embrace the Quirkiness
If it's in Wisconsin, there's bound to be some wackiness. The Northwoods is no different. So embrace it. For starters, make sure you visit the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum.
