Autumn is in the air -- and on the trees -- here in Washington. And while there are plenty of scenic drives that show off the beauty of our state this time of year, if you take the train, all you'll have to do is sit back and relax. These day train trips in Washington State are all undeniably charming and make for a fun fall day. Ready for one of the most fun things to do in fall in Washington State? All aboard!
1. Chelatchie Prairie Railroad
The Chelatchie Prairie Railroad runs between Yacolt and Chelatchie Prairie, and it's both scenic and serene. You can choose the fall foliage ride or October's Steam Headless Horseman Halloween Train, which is a little eerie and a lot of fun. These are some of the best PNW train rides you can take!
2. Northwest Railway Museum, Snoqualmie
Fall is a fantastic time to ride the Northwest Railway from the Snoqualmie Depot to the North Bend Depot. Not only is the fall foliage vibrant, but if you ride on a late October weekend, you can enjoy the Halloween Excursion train, one of the best fall train rides in the state!
3. Chehalis Centralia Railroad
A ride on the Chehalis-Centralia Railroad is always scenic and relaxing. Their standard nine miles rides are gorgeous, and you can also opt for a special event like a dinner train or October's Pumpkin Train.
