This Is The Absolute Best Town In Texas To Visit During The Halloween Season
Smithville, Texas, is a top Halloween destination with a haunted house, block party, and Halloween museum.
Spooky season is upon us! Whether you're in the mood for a bone-chilling scare or some family-friendly October fun, Smithville is the place to be. It's one of the best Halloween towns in Texas, with a haunted house, block party, and even a Halloween museum!
The small town of Smithville might as well be considered the unofficial "Halloween Capital of Texas."
Despite being home to just around 4,500 people, the Hill Country town celebrates spooky season in a huge way.
One of Texas' largest and most frightening haunted houses, Scream Hollow Halloween Park, is right here in Smithville, and it's open all throughout October to give you thrills and chills until Halloween night.
The park offers four different attractions, each one seemingly more terrifying than the last.
Encounter an evil witch and creepy clowns, and make your way through an apocalyptic wasteland and maze of terror.
Then, enjoy a pint (pun intended) at the only vampire bar in Texas to take the edge off.
Please note that Scream Hollow is recommended for ages 12 and up only.
Younger children are welcome in the dining area, which includes a cafe and bakery and a gift shop.
For families with small children, there's plenty of not-so-scary fun to be had in Smithville.
Every year, the town hosts its annual "Halloween Spooktacular" on October 31, complete with music, candy, and lots more fangtastic fun. Don't forget to wear your best costume!
Back at Scream Hollow, the Texas Halloween History Museum is another frighteningly fun attraction the whole family is sure to enjoy.
The only museum of its kind in the world, this unique destination offers a fascinating glimpse into the origin of Halloween, with plenty of neat exhibits to help tell the story.
