There’s A Wildlife Park In South Dakota That’s Perfect For A Family Day Trip

I don't know about you, but I can't wait for spring. One of the best things about the season is that many of the attractions that have been shuttered during the cold, winter months open back up for our enjoyment. Here's a little park that's perfect for your first spring day trip with the family - take a look!

Bear Country USA is a drive-through wildlife park that covers over 250 acres. It's located at 13820 S. Highway 16, Rapid City.

Take a leisurely drive down the three-mile-long road that winds through the park.

Keep your windows up - the animals wander right up to and around your vehicle!

You'll have a chance to see 20 North American species up close and personal. The wolves look like your average family pet - but they're anything but.

The bears are the star of the show here, and the cubs are especially adorable.

You'll be able to see them wrestle, climb trees and chase each other around, just as they would in the wild.

Bear Country USA has the largest collection of black bears in the country.

The animals here enjoy very large enclosures, much bigger than in a zoo.

Other animals here include reindeer, mountain lions, bighorn sheep, badgers, elk, buffalo, Canadian lynx, coyote and more.

During CubFest, guests are allowed to closely interact with the bear cubs. This two-day event is the only time you can pet a black bear - by August, these guys will weigh 100 pounds!

CubFest 2018 takes place April 14th and 15th from 10 AM to 4 PM.
