Rhode Island's happiest cities are ranked based on factors like home ownership, marriage rates, and unemployment.

If you're a Rhode Islander, you're well aware that life in the Ocean State is pretty great. That being said, statistically speaking, there are a few places where our smiles might be the biggest. Those factors depend on things like cost of living, traffic, education, home ownership, and poverty rates. According to Zippia, these are Rhode Island's 10 happiest cities and towns.

10. Cranston

Cranston is located in Providence County, and it's a happy place to live thanks to its high population of homeowners (61%) and married couples (46%).

9. East Providence

The little city of East Providence is home to about 48,000 happy people that seem to be quite content. Over half the residents are homeowners, and the unemployment rate is a mere 3.2%.

8. Newport East

Newport East comes in eighth on the list with a near 50% marriage rate and a great cost of living for a medium-sized city. Plus, it's beautiful!

7. Wakefield-Peacedale

Located in the town of South Kingstown, this tiny village is big on happiness. 66% of residents here own their homes, and 50% are married.

6. Westerly

Westerly has a unique historic charm, and that's not the only great thing about it. The unemployment rate here is just 3.6%, and 52.9% of residents are homeowners.

5. Warwick

With over 39 miles of coastline, it's easy to see why Warwick is a wonderful place to live. This city of 82,672 has a high median income, and 67% of its residents own their homes.

4. Greenville

Greenville comes in at number four on the list, with 75.7% of its 8,596 residents owning their own homes and 44.8% enjoying wedded bliss.

3. Tiverton

Located in Newport County, the town of Tiverton is a quiet and peaceful place to call home. 58% of its residents are married, and and the unemployment rate is just 3.6%.

2. Valley Falls

This tiny community in the town of Cumberland is idyllic for local history buffs. And with a 66.3% home ownership rate, it's safe to say its residents are doing well.

1. Cumberland Hill

Cumberland Hill is, statistically, the happiest place in Rhode Island. The small area is a great place for families to live thanks to its low crime rate and good schools, and a whopping 81% of those who live there own their homes.
