Tucked in Latrobe, the Saint Vincent Gristmill dates back to the 1850s. Construction included buhrstones, shipped to Western Pennsylvania from France.

Throughout the gristmill's storied history, monks have overseen the work, beginning with Brother Peter Seemueller in 1854.

Today, visitors can watch from a special viewing area as the monks work as millers at the gristmill, grinding grains into flour.

In fact, millers produce a variety of products from the grain, including whole wheat flour, unbleached white flour, cornmeal, and rye. All grains used at the gristmill are sourced from local farmers.

And, after you've watched the miller hard at work, tour the gristmill's museum, which gives a glimpse into the history of the gristmill.

Of course, a visit to Saint Vincent Gristmill wouldn't be complete without a stop at the General Store, brimming with flour, fresh bread, and jams.

Visit the Saint Vincent Gristmill between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Saint Vincent Gristmill is located at 300 Fraser Purchase Rd., Latrobe, PA 15650.
